Ok, so I'm probably going to be getting the Gateway P-6831FX, but I wanted to know if I could get a slimline Blu-Ray Drive, and be able to use it in the Gateway? Does anyone know if that's possible? Also, since the 6831 only has a 1.6GHz processor, can I upgrade it to like a 2.4GHz? I would rather do that then pay more money for the P-172X or something like that!
Thanks!

The processor is a fairly easy upgrade, a lot of people are going with the T9300 as an upgrade. There is actually another post http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=251214 that discusses the blu-ray upgrades. The 6831 and 6860 are very similar.

Now what's the difference between WXGA+ and WUXGA? Is it just the resolution? And do all the FX Models have 2 HDD trays? Because that is one of the features I liked when I heard of the FX, but I didn't know if all models could support 2 HDD's?
And I'm reading that people are putting the x9000 in their machines? What's the difference between a Core2Duo and the Extreme?
Thanks -
Extreme has unlocked multiplayer so you can overclock it with out changing fsb

the fx series has 2 hdd bays
the extreme processors are c2d that have an unlocked multiplier allowing over clocking up to 3.0ghz (restricted by gateway bios), the non extreme c2d cannot be overclocked on an fx laptop. -
I almost fell for buying a Dell XPS m1530 or m1330, but I really want this one a lot more! I've seen it at Best Buy, but never really got to lift it, cause they lock them down! Are these okay to carry around everywhere or is it basically like a Desktop Replacement? I've got a Desktop that I built, but one of the things that caught my eye was it had the 8800M GTS for cheaper then Alienware or Dell would have it for!

It's no ultra-lite. But, they are not bad to carry. Just get a good bag for it. For the performance and price.I think you can't go wrong.

I carry mine to work everyday with a backpack its pretty damn heavy with the battery and power brick, I would guess around 10lbs with all that and a mouse. But if you are like me and carry a backpack to school its still much lighter than 2-3 textbooks. I wouldn't recommend a carrying bag just because it would get tiring unless you need one to look professional (I'm guessing you don't since the laptop isn't the most subtle professional looking notebook out there).

its a bit heavy but with a good bag it is no issue.
there is no better deal around, not by far.
Thinking about getting a FX, just a few questions?
