This may sound like a stupid question...

and it probably is, how long does it usually take to get an ordered laptop from the internet?

I was looking at a customized gateway m680x

This question was probably asked a million times before, but...

There are two processors. Should I go for the 2.0 ghz processor, and go with the 512 mb ram, or go with the 1.73 ghz processor, and go with the 1024 mb ram?

How long it takes will depend on the availability of the part you select. Since you are configuring to order, it will likely be shipped over from Asia after being built. Persnally would get the extra memory and slower CPU. If you don't need a lot of space, I would recommed the 7200RPM hard drive. It will noticeably improve system performance. It is a $40 upgrade. Good Luck.

It took 13 days for me to receive my m460xl. They ship from China. Unfortunately, after 30 days of emails, phonecalls and wasted time it's still not working right and I've just about given up. The help dept. really doesn't have a clue. They even sent me a new MOTHERBOARD for this laptop. It was used, actually and then they had no record of it being sent. After I determined it was the exact one that was already in the laptop I returned it with their label. Now they have no record of my returning it. The nightmare continues.........

Get the faster processor. You can always upgrade the RAM later, but if you get the slower processor you're basically screwed that way.

My very customized m680x arrived 3 days ahead of their estimated 2 week delivery time, and works great. I went with the 1024 RAM and the 1.73 processor, and am perfectly happy. I did go to the 7200 rpm hard drive, which works wonders.

Did you get the GeForce 6800 also? My 680 is supposedly held up by both the graphics and the 7200 rpm hard drive. How recently did you receive yours? I'm wondering if it will be done on schedule, or if this is something I will be waiting on for months.
