    Hi every one,
I want to post my experience with tigertirect that is selling refurb Gateways. Well even the price is attractive, I've noticed a lot of incompetance from tigerdirect tech. First gateway was seriously damaged, heat, battery not charging, hard drive not well placed, the laptop never switchs off, fan spenning for no reason, ect... Is this what they call a certefied item???
I asked for a replacement, and I got one functionning let say normally. the hard drive was not well placed in the slot. And after all i was really surprised with a funny noise coming from the vents? I said to my self wowwowow. Now some thing is broken. I opened the laptop and imagine what i found?
A "pause" key in the fan ... Can you imagine? Well I guess this is my last time when dealing with tigerdirect.
If someone is messing the key pm me :p
I forget to say that they censure the feedback on the site. and ommet the comments that they dont like. So never get fooled with the comments on the items.

Feel free to add your experience with tigerdirect.

    Sorry for my bad english.

I'm sorry to hear about the horrible experiences you had with TigerDirect. I do have some experiences with them. I bought a few things from them, namely the P-7811 FX and the P-7805u FX laptops. Both are fine as far as performance. However, upon opening the refurbished laptops, the hard drive cover was always not closed properly on each. One had a poorly laid out sheet-metal beneath the keyboard. :(

    DO NOT BUY FROM TIGERDIRECT!

They ship the items as long as eternity!
They dont care about you, only the purchase you are making and the
extended warranty that they are making money on.
TD support is like the Hollow Man, you can never see it
    They SUCK BIG TIME!

But, if you care about the lower price they have on refurb, malfunctioning
    products, Be My Guest!

I only bought from CompUSA, which is their other half. My 6860 came in perfect and is still running that way today. But it's not uncommon for the refurb department to get sloppy so they can show they shipped out on time, because guess who is going to fix the repairs when they come in? Them. Therefore, there's no real consequences to doing that unless the company incurs some additional expense.

I also bought my Refurb 7805u from Gateway and have been pleased with the service. Only problem was I got a defective/dead battery, but I was able to get a replacement within a week.

The TigerDirect is OK. You should remember these notebooks are refurbished so they might not be perfect. For the price the TD offers these laptops I'm able to forget such imperfections.

never buy from Tigerdirect, they use to be good. But now they suck! they tape up open box product at normal price. they sell return/ open products as new, if the box is ok.

I believe that your gripe would be with the refurb company rather than Tigerdirect. I too purchased my 7805 from Tiger. The first one I received I plugged in and powered up and the screen remained black. I looked up the company that refurbed the machine and contacted their "Tech Support" and they told me what I already knew, "Hardware Issue" so I sent it back to Tiger for a replacement unit. I think that the problem is that this is the only company that handles Gateway's and eMachines' refurb work. That's too bad because they are causing a lot of bad PR for Tiger and Gateway; noone cares about Seneca Data because their name isn't printed on any of the boxes.

People are forgetting that when they buy a refurbished product they are rolling the dice...

I didn't have much of an issue with mine... Like torch, I also got one without the HDD bay cover tabs in properly (easy fix.. but this seems to be a somewhat epidemic with these!)

Aside from this and a few VERY minor cosmetic blemishes... very satisfied, overall (but then again... haven't had to deal with their service department!)
