I recently joined the ub3r g33ky l33t eXtreme club with an X7800 purchased off of ebay from osstore. Chip runs great and its rock steady @ 3ghz. For some odd reason, normal day to day use ( no gaming ) the temp's on the cores differs. Anywhere from 2 to 8 degrees. It's not only when the cpu is being utilized.. like right now writing this post, core 1 is at 39 degrees and core 2 is at 44 degrees. Could this indicate I messed up putting on the AS5 and the heatsink or could it just be because it's an engineering sample and its just the way it was made. Doesn't affect anything, still runs great! World in conflict runs sooo much better...am just curious if others have seen this.

    Thanks!

Thats pretty normal for the most part and i wouldnt worry about it . i had the same issue when i had my 6860 and a t9300 , no matter how many times i had applied AS5 etc, nothing would change the fact the one core was 5 degrees hotter then the other.

It has to do with how the temp sensors are situated on the chip. One sensor in on the outside of core 1 and the sensor of core 2 is between the cores so gets a few extra degrees due to thermal leakage. It doesn't always happen, my t5750 would constantly show 3-5 degrees difference and my x9000 is usually only 0-2 degrees off, but its pretty common.

Its nothing to be that worried about as long as its not some 20 degrees difference or something

I will agree with everyone else. Don't worry about the core deviation at all. You're all good. Enjoy the new found power! :)
