Any way to tell which model number you're getting while it's still shipping? The invoice I have has no details on it, and it still says on UPS that "billing information received", so that's no help either. I'm just curious if there's any way to know while I wait for it, heh.

I don't think so. I do however have two of them sitting in front of me now. What should I be looking for and why? :)

The serial number is on your order status at TD. It said I would get a 2888, I got a 2888.

Maybe it's just Tigerdirect Canada and they don't show the model number, because I don't see it anywhere. I guess I'll just have to wait, heh.

Even if you're not looking to go with RAID, is that 08 bios version still the best one to use to fix heating issue problems previous people had?

I'm searching for the link to Dload the bios and apparently I'm having a brainfart and can't find it. Would someone please link me to the latest 7811 bios with RAID support? Thank you very much. Senile Goodspeed. :D

    Edit: I think I found it. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3965947#post3965947

Unless there is something I am missing I think I'll be ok now. Well, as "OK" as I was before.

non of the 7811 bios releases had major impact on heat issues (if at all).

I hadn't noticed any heat related issues with any of my 7811s, I just wanted to put these nice 500gig HDDs in RAID. :D

There is only really a heat issue if you plan to OC. All the issues I've read had to do with OCing the CPU or the GPU, I plan to do neither, just RAID 0. So I'm a happy bunny. Doesn't mean I won't torture my notebook when I get it to make sure it doesn't have one of the other major issues.

I went with the "11" BIOS. rAID WORKS FINE AND ALL SEEMS WELL. My 3dMark score dropped 50 points so I imagine they increased the latencies somewhere in the video card so as to help with temps. No big tho.
