I recently put a T9300 into my 6860FX. I had trouble with one of the 5 heatsink screws (#2 to be exact)...Luckily I was able to get it off without damaging the screw socket...but the screw head on the screw itself was damage to the point that I could not re-use it. So i just used the other 4...not really having any problems...CPU has been rock solid and temps very good...but for piece of mind I would like to replace that screw...I have checked my local hardware and radioshacks and they do not have anything that tiny.

What size/type are those screws and is it possible to obtain replacements?

Do you mean you had trouble with the silver colored screw w/spring over the northbridge chip or the black screws? I may be able to help you out.

Yea for some reason the black ones are SUPER FREAKING tight. I almost stripped 2 of them -.- Remember kids, press down real hard! The motherboard can take it! But don't try to be a hercules.

I recommend using the Stanley 66-052 Precision Screwdriver Set, 6-Piece. In particular, the #1 screwdriver works perfect for the heatsink screws as well as the screws for the back panels. It fits perfectly which means no stripped screws.

rafaelsmith, I'll send you a spare screw I have. No strings...just want to help a fellow forum member out. Just need your address.

The reason the black screws are tight. I noticed they use blue loctite on them. So, if you go to loosen them make sure your driver fits properly or you will have a chance of stripping the head.
