    US release of P-79xx series? When?

    Sorry if I'm being a PITA, but I've been allotted the money to make the purchase and I'm starting to twitch. LOL I'm so impatient... LOL

    It seems as if Canada and Japan (as well as some other areas) already have the P-79xx laptops. How come we're missing out here in the US? I definitely get the idea that they're waiting for the release of Windows 7, but why wait here when they didn't elsewhere?

    It looks as if the 7902 varation (the dual core with the higher clock than the quad) will fit the bill for me over the 7901.

    So, anybody hear anything remotely firm on a release date for them in the US?

    Thats because no one knows.
    As far as i know no one has any special contacts inside Gateway/Acer that could give us that information, and as best as i can tell Best Buy isnt saying anything either.

    So until someone can give a more concrete answer it will be sometime between right now and never. :(

    Thanks. That's at least something to know that there's not even speculation.

    I would imagine thatyt it would be soon, though, since Canada does already have the series.

    I hope it's soon. I was ready to jump on the 7809u until I head about the 79xx. I loose my office when the baby comes, but at least I have 8 months before that actually happens. LOL

    Yeah, Honestly if i had to guess Gateway will make a new round of releases about the same time as the Win7 Release (october-ish)

    Dont worry about losing the office. Babies are better than video games. My daughter is way more challenging than crysis and more entertaining too :p

    That's what I was figuring. Hopefully that's what ends up happening.

    It's certainly not the games that are my primary worry... As I probably won't have a ton of time to play them. :) However, I'm a desktop user, so no longer having my office also means no longer having a desk to put the desktop on, thus my impending purchase of a laptop. :D
