Anyone tried Ubuntu 8.10 on a P6831FX? Everything works great for me except that when I reboot the system crashes.

i've tried ubuntue, linux mint, and kubuntu, but no matter what i do i can't change the volume which is on max by default. the only one i've tried that does work is backtrack 3.

i've never had it crash on me tho.

Yeah, got Ubuntu Hardy Heron installed as backup OS and dual booting with Vista.

No, it never crashed. Sound works great out of the box. Only needed to get the nVidia driver for Compiz and some updates from internet.

Try installing it disconnected from the internet and see what happens.
