Ok, come on now. ? All of a sudden my wireless network system tray icon is GONE! Anyone know how to get it back?

Also, since it left my ping has been spiking all over the place. How annoying.

If you are talking about what I think you're talking about, then you must right click on the task bar, hit Properties, click on the Notification Area tab, and click the Network box.

I did, and it was checked. I just unchecked it, uninstalled the driver, reinstalled, and rechecked it and it came back. Weird.

Strange thing is in my device manager, it now says Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100 #3 (Where'd the #3 come from?)

I imagine a "restore" would make everything shiny and happy again. Other than that, I dunno. Good luck. -Goodspeed :)

If I'm not mistaken, each time you re-install the driver, the OS thinks it's a new device. This is apparently the third time this 5100 has been installed...

goodspeed - that's the problem, I just went through hell doing a new fresh install, and now this issue pops up?

Oh well, seems like it's working now.

Tybalt39 - I went into the registry to find the entry that named it and it won't let me change it to delete the "#3", even though "#2" or default doesn't exist. Strange.

Glad to hear it's working again.
