I'm experiencing issues booting from the Gateway Recovery DVD I usually use to install Vista on my 6860fx. I had installed Windows 7 and wanted to revert back to Vista (clean install), however...everytime I try to boot up my laptop using the recovery DVD, it prompts an error stating "Operating System not found".

My original D drive partition is intact, so I'm not sure what could be causing the laptop to not boot up. Has anyone encountered this issue and can point me in the right direction to resolve it? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Just noticed that my recovery portion of the hard-drive is showing as letter E in Windows 7 explorer. Would this have any affect on the boot process? Should I rename the drive letter to D?

I would try the Re-lettering first.

If that doesnt work you can always pop out the HD and reformat it using another computer.

Changing the drive letter didn't work. Going to format the Win7 partition using XP Setup disc and then have another attempt at using the recovery partition.
