As you all know with this notebook that if you are not playing a game your GPU is under clocked to keep it cooler and save battery life. Under "normal" conditions my notebook runs around 110F or so but under gaming it runs a hot 181F and sometimes climbs to 195F, I am unsure if those are normal temps or not and it would be great to get an answer to that. By the way I am using Everest to monitor the temps and for the GPU all it pulls up is the "GPU Diode" Any idea what that is? Would that temp be different than the GPU?

But my main question is can the same kinda under clocking with my GPU in my desktop do the same for the temps? I have a 8800 GT 512MB card clocked at 600/900/1512 (factory settings) and the fan runs at idle at 30% (1900RPM) under normal conditions. And under those conditions my GPU stays at 156F which seems sort of high to me. I have tried using Ntune to lower my settings to 150/255/378 and the only difference I get is a 5F drop in temp so now I'm running at 151F which really isnt worth the hassle of changing my settings for that minor of a change. My only thought is I could keep the fan running at 40% but wouldn't that wear out the card quicker than staying at 30% or am I just being stupid about the whole temp thing?

    What are your guys/gals thoughts??
