Just wondering if it is worth it to update to newer video drivers for the 9800M GTS. The drivers that came installed are 17x.xx I think. I will get the exact numbers later. But they have not given me an issue yet nor does the GPU get above 79 degrees. I have always been under the impression dont fix something that is not broke when it comes to drivers.
I see all these posts about Nvidia new drivers yadda yadda. Think its worth it to update? Im leaning towards using the ones that came installed from the factory until they take a dump on me..if ever! Agreed???
Also, hows the wireless card/drivers in the laptop? I flip the wireless switch and I seem to get my routers signal only half the time. My girlfriends $500 HP gets my router all day long!Any way to make this perform better? Thanks!

When I had my 7805u the best drivers I found were the Dox 185.68, gave me better frame rates in games and a better 3dmark06 score. Overall much better preformance..

All you need to do is decrapify, and then update video card drivers to the newest nVidia ones...
-
The newest Nvidia's are 185.85 and I heard peeps are having issues with them No?
If the 185.68 dox are the best then where do I download them? Thanks -
Mine looked fine though
Dox is a good choice too -

Here's the link to the Dox 185.68, enjoy!

There Windows 7 compatible!! -
Thanks. I think Il try the dox 185.68. It notes that the PhysX is not included. Do I need that then? If so where do I find it? Also how do I run my 3dMark scores..want to show stock drivers vs the dox 185.68's

Please post that here. I'm like you and was sitting on the fence re: updates. Would like to see if it's worth the effort -

updating driver is honestly only worth it if you want to play newer games because newer drivers have optimizations for those games sometimes. or if you want to install the dox driver over standard drivers then thats also a good reason to upgrade because dox drivers are usually optimized for performance with the least amount of IQ loss. be aware though that install ing dox drivers will result in IQ loss but i think unless you have the eyes of an eagle you wont notice.

v185.85 are working very well for me - install instructions in my sig.
You have to use the 'nvwi_win7.inf' manual install method.
Also that's not true about Dox's drivers - he strives for the best image quality and the highest minimum FPS. -
Thanks guys. the stock drivers from gateway im running are 176.15. No problems yet so I think Il stay with them for a while. Then the 185.68 dox will go in next if I start seeing the 176.15's not being able to keep up. Thanks!
Still having my wireless problem. Just installed an automatic update for the WiFi 5100 drivers last night and no change. Any help?
