I recently was given this laptop from a friend of mine. Looking to upgrade the Core 2 Duo, since it's on the lower end of the spectrum since it's only a T6400.

I have run CPU-Z on the laptop, but I do not know exactly which processors I could use. Below I have a screen shot of the program:

It also depends on your chip on the mainboard. Like a pm45 or 945?. That will tell you what processor you can upgrade to along with the socket type.

the chipset is a GM45 according to gateway's website... which means you can use any core 2 duo.

best one you could get would be the T9900 or a P9700 if you want a lower TDP.

Alright, thank you for the help so far. I have been looking at what my options are. I have taken another screen shot of the chip set information. If anyone could shed some more light on my question, I would really appreciate it.
