Careful with this one. There was already someone who had found an awesome deal on this exact drive he used. BC-5500A. Only issue is it's a PATA IDE drive and not SATA like the 7811, 7801, 7805 use. Atleast that's the word going around.

Can someone verify that the P-78xx use a SATA optical drive?

Or just use the normal BC-5600S without a bezel, i don't think it'll look that ugly.

No its not, regular DVD's are 480p (480 vertical lines) blu-ray supports up to 1080p (1080 vertical lines) therefore there will still be a significant clarity improvement. Also it is a cheaper alternative to a full on blu-ray player, with the HDMI port on the FX series you can easily output to a TV.

I have a PS3 in the living room and a Panasonic BD55 Blu-ray Player in my bedroom but I too would like a unit that will allow my to watch movies wherever I want. But at $330, it's more than the price of some stand alone players. So I will wait till prices fall a little before taking the plunge. Perhaps by that time I can add a Blu-ray player/burner for about $300. Now that would make me happy :)

Holy Cheap Blu-ray Deal, Batman! Has anyone bought one of these beauties yet? This is too tempting.

EDIT: Ooops...I didn't read the PATA interface part. So I guess I will just have to wait for the SATA ones to come down in price.
