Upgraded to a T9300 yesterday. About 20 minutes from first screw off to last screw back on. Pictured how-to's on this forum made it a breeze. I used AS5 and followed their website instructions.

Did the undervolt and found that it is stable at a min of 1.0375 at the max multiplier. A little higher than most of the posts I've read, but the max core temp under full load for 3 hours was 53C so I am quite happy.

I'm excited to see the effects. I play WOW a lot and in large cities notice a significant framerate reduction due to processor load. I wonder what kind of a difference it will make. Not expecting magic, but hopefully a little better.

Thanks to everyone posting in the forum. Never would have attempted this without seeing community suggestions and successes.

Congradulation on the upgrade. It should make your rig seem like a whole new computer.

    Enjoy the CPU

i just upgraded to T9300 and i can see the improvements it made. For one it's ice cold, (48-49) under load 32-33 idle temps. Crysis was fine with me on T5550 but it was choppy in certain spots. T9300 fixed that issue and now it runs smooth. Overall i'm happy with the upgrade.

i bought T9300 from someone on craigslist for $130 shipped which isn't that bad compared to eBay where T9300 goes for $20-$30 more.

I got mine from Ebay for $169 shipped and I coincided it with Cashback of 15% so it was $143.65. Seller was junkpcparts. He seems to have them quite frequently.

Yeah I was happy. I kept my eye on the auctions and got lucky with the cashback being higher.

Nels1316, how's the difference in WoW vs. the old CPU (I'm assuming the old one was the stock). I'm interested to find out, as I play that game the most on this PC also. :)

    Thanks!

The old one was stock, and let me be clear, it is not that I was terribly unhappy with the performance with the stock, but I know that WoW is a CPU intensive rather than graphically intensive program.

Before, I would notice a significant bog in large cities such as Shat or Dalar. I would say that it definitely seems better since adding the new CPU, but it still gets a little slower, but not as bad. I think some of that is the game server itself.

All in all, it is not like it is night and day, but just knowing that I have reduced the processor as the potential bottleneck in most cases made the small investment worth it to me. Plus it is fun to open the laptop up and work on it.
