Im wondering if there's any easy way to use an external monitor at all times. I know I'm not the only one that is doing this, so what have the rest of you done to make it easier to start up? I don't like the fact that I have to open the laptop and turn it on, then wait until the OS loads and then configure the monitor through the Nvidia Control Panel. Is there any way around this? It would be ideal if it would default to the external monitor whenever it was plugged in. I switch OS' a couple times a day, and its very inconvenient to have to open the laptop and reconfigure it every time I want to change.

Anybody have any help or suggestions?

Theres nothing wrong with the laptop monitor, but with an external keyboard there's no way to use that AND the laptop monitor since the screen is too far away. I find myself squinting and leaning forward during games since it's hard to see when the screen is farther away.

    Fair question.

I haven't tried this on my 5u, but my last Gateway notebook "remembered" the last setting and when I re-booted it detected the external monitor and only showed on that one. Obviously, the monitor has to be on first.

Just wondering - did you try that already?

Yea Windows 7 seems to remember but when I switch to XP it doesn't remember my display setting so I have to go in Nvidia Control Panel and change it everytime. NvCpl is enabled in startup in msconfig.
