Hi,
I have a few questions about Gateway notebooks. Their site isn't the most straightforward or descriptive when I'm looking for specific information (but then again, whos is?)
I'm interested in the new 15.4" Core Duo processor based notebooks. I will be buying the cheapest RAM (as I have 2x1GB DDR2 already), and may get a slightly better hard drive (because of the current high cost of 2.5" SATA drives). I want the T2400 as the CPU. I want the Ultrabright option on the display, so the M465-E is out of the question (as if the $200 increase doesn't contribute to that).
1. Is the $50 Bluetooth module integrated or external USB? The shopping cart lists it as a separate item and says that it "ships when the first computer ships".
2. Does the 8-cell battery provide an approx. 33% increase in battery life? Also, how far does the 12-cell battery protrude from the laptop?
3. Beyond offers, is there any significant difference between the S-7510N (Small Business) and NX560XL (Home) when configured equivalently? Besides the Windows version (XP Pro on the S-7510N; XP MCE on the NX560XL), the S-7510N is $5 cheaper when configured nearly equivalently (although with the 40GB min HD in the S-7510N compared to the NX560XL's 60GB min). I would probably go for an 80GB if I were to NX560XL.
4. Are the Small Business and Home support lines different? I remember having much better luck with Dell Small Business support than Home in the past.
5. Is it likely that Gateway will support a Yonah -> Merom upgrade on either notebook?
6. How good is the case quality on the NX550/S-7500?
Various Gateway questions (battery/Bluetooth/model differences/etc.)
