    have you put your tv on the proper input?
    have you switched the lappy to external monitor?
    What resolution are you trying to run?

    when i tried this with my desktop a few years back it didn't work and i had to get a converter box =/

    As mentioned above, this won't work. There have been a few threads on this topic over the last few months.

    Also, note this disclaimer right on the listing for the part you purchased:

    NOTE: Your VGA card must support TV out directly through VGA port function. Please consult with your VGA card's user manual for more information.

    This series of laptops doesn't support this feature. Generally, only desktop cards support this feature, and they come with the cable already.

    Maybe a docking station might help with the output? Not really sure if it would enhance the video in any way. I have a Thinkpad and when I use the built in VGA output on it, my resolution drops considerably compared to the resolution on the laptop display. [​IMG]
