    hey guys,

i am an avid everquest player. I have been having problems with my vid card locking up my system while playing EQ. I do use the laptop in my classroom to show some pretty high end graphing apps and i dont have any problems. even loaded up some of the other games i have ( tho they are older ), and didnt have an ounce of problems.... i have gone to Nvidia and got the newest drivers for the 9800 card in it.... even tried to turn the vid card performance settings lower.... and i am still having problems...

    any ideas???

EQ1 or EQ2? I play EQ2 with no problems whatsoever.

Not sure what EQ1 thinks of Vista. Is there an XP compatibility mode requirement in EQ1?

When you played EQ1 on vista was it the 32 or 64 bit version? I ask as 64 bit just adds more issues........

You need to go to the game site itself and look for patches etc. look for forums specific to the game and ask, and look, around. I am sure you are not the first person with issues.............

I am sure its not a 32/64 bit thing, its Sony's coding issue, I have had problems in the past using 8800 gts in sli EQ2. You can try a full system scan in the EQ launcher, maybe turn down the graphic settings all the way, try it, then turn them up until you have the problem, then you can pin point the problem like maybe spell effect for example. Worst case reload the app.

gota love sony, bless their greedy little hearts, I'm sure one of their programers could fix this issue in a week, but that may cost too much ;)

sorry to necro this thread but i was wondering if goldfish resolved his/her issue?

my rig is about to ship--been almost a month grumble grumble--and i figured eq1 would run fine on it. however, this is sorta disheartening if it's still happening.
