Hey... I recently reverted to the 169 drivers from Laptoptogo as it seemed to make World in Conflict more bareable. Now whenever I play crysis or just about any other game, I get some serious FPS issues that are obsurd. Not only that but now I cant install any new drivers from laptop2go?? After I restart from installing a new driver I get an error message saying something about Rundll32 not running. I also check the driver info and it is not changed at all :(

Have you done a complete uninstall, boot into safe mode and use Driver cleaner from Guru3D, then install back in normal mode?

Not yet, whats weird is it only lets me install the 169 drivers. If i choose any others i get an error about having the wrong OS o_O Maybe the FPS problem is not with 169?

So what is the final word for using the best vid driver for our machines? Is there really one?

174.31 Vista 64bit drivers from LaptopVideo2GO are pretty stable for me but like gengerald says Do a clean Install and you should be fine.

Well I use 171.16 from www.laptopvideo2go.com because 174.31 was giving me some problems when playing F.E.A.R so I went back down to those drivers as they have been pretty stable on my systems and with the games that I play. ;)

I tried to use 174.31 and it was troublesome when playing COD4, so I did a clean install. Still ran into the same issue. Just today I tried the latest and greatest so far 174.60. Runs perfect in COD4, Crysis and Warhammer.

Does the 174.60 need the modded file or is it installed as mentioned in the suggested guide?

You may not have to use the modded inf if you system has a compatible sys id, but I suggest the modded files as they enable a bunch of options to keep you system cooler and better regulated. The usual drivers keep you at a steady clock, meaning great overall performance, but hotter temps if run for longer periods. To only get these hotter temps when applications really demand it, the modded file downclocks. It downclocks me in my games, I get no change in performance, just cooler temps. Some games are at stock clocks, some not. You can also set rules to fix software downclocking if you are worried.

I had an off topic question but I dont think it warrants a brand new thread just for it, so figure I'd ask.

When I go to my start menu why is it I cant see all my program folders as if i were to manually go Computer > C > Program Files?

In other words, my start menu list looks shortened.

Now you cant see the whole list but the scroll bars show enough evidence I think.

It's not supposed to be exactly the same. The Start Menu is supposed to be similar yet provide a cleaner look. It tends to organize things and remove programs and stuff that aren't really important, such as "Common Files", "IDT", etc.
