Won't burn anything, just say error after trying to burn. Tried couple burning program still doesn't work. Read dvd but is choppy like something is wrong with the lens of the drive. Any solution or do I need a new one.

Sad thing is my dvdrw drive only worked for the first couple week and then it went out. Anyone who upgraded and have the oem old part dvdrw please sell them to me. Online use part sell it for around 35-45 shipped. I am off jobs right now and a college student. Looking to pay less around 20ish shipped. Feel free to pm me here or send an email is better.

Or email me at [email protected].

mod... I don't know if putting my emailed out allowed or not. Or a half problem/wtb thread allowed here. Please delete or move if not allowed. Sorry.

You have a PM45 express chipset right?
So your dvd drive is SATA. If that's right, you could probably buy any SATA notebook DVD drive and just put your faceplate onto it?

BTW, sometimes updating the DVD drives firmware can help.

I can't update anymore. Its already the latest. As for chipset i am not sure. I can but I rather stick with the oem even thought it would be the same. Thanks for the advice thought I will try again.

If you end up needing a new drive, let me know. I have the original drive that came with my 7805U. I ripped it out of my system when I first bought it and replaced it with a slot-loading drive. It's virtually brand new (kept it in a anti-static bag); I think I used it for all of one month.
