So, I searched and didn't find anything. So I need some answers.

When you open up task manager and look at the Performance tab in Vista and look at the Physical Memory (MB) part.

    Now, Mine says this:

    Total: 4089
    Cached: 2989
    Free: 45

Now tell me, does this look right to you? I notice my comp is a little sluggish as well. Could this be the cause?

I believe that your looking at what windows has recently used as far as memory. It should change all the time.

Did a fast search found these:

    Look at #5

In vista those numbers are not really useful. From where you are at click on Resource Monitor and check the % of memory used. It should be a bit more accurate. In Windows 7 they add an "Available" indicator so you don't have to do that. For example my Windows 7 machine shows...

    Total: 4090
    Cached: 1565
    Available: 2434
    Free: 923

Note that Free != Available because about a gig and a half is allocated to an application but isn't necessarily being used. It can easily be re-allocated to something else.
