Never have been able to get my P7805u webcam to work since installing Win7. Keep getting this message: "Webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer"

Restarting doesn't fix and same message appears.

This is the driver version: 6.2.251.627

Have you tried to use the webcam drive for P-6860FX to see if that works? I did that when my so called driver software that I downloaded for my P-7811FX didn't work and said the same message as your is saying to you and it worked.

I will give that a try today and report back here.

OK I installed the webcam driver for a P-6860FX on my P7805u per StormJumper's suggestion and it worked like a charm. Thank You!

NP, I almost bought a webcam and lcd/webcam cable because I couldn't get my webcam to load. I was glad I have my other Gateway P-6860FX that was similiar and the webcam worked so I thought heck with it why not just load the 6860 webcam driver and see what happen. And it worked to my amazement-not sure what is the problem with the driver/software for the P-78 version but obvious there is something not right or a bug exist in there some where but the P-68 drivers works and loads and doesn't throw a fit when installed and used. Gateway should take note of this and fix the problem now owned by Acer but I doubt they be any fix for it soon as this is older laptops but to me it is still work and worth keeping around.

Gateway seems on the P7805 to have two different web cams, not sure if this has to do with the two resolution panel assemblies..............

Tanware, I had tried both. Neither worked.

I saw that as well on the driver page for the P-78 model but didn't the chance of compounding the problem so I just went with the chicoy driver ( I think that is the one and it worked). If not it would inform me this isn't the driver. And I do think I tried both for the P-78 that was why at my wits end I said heck with it and go with the P-68 driver and it worked out just fine.

I had the Gateway driver but the system, and all those DL's, is put away. Before Gateway stops supporting the systems I should start gathering and putting files away.

That would be awesome tanware, we never know when gateway/Acer might decide to pull all the files and having a second source would be great. If not for you gathering the old Everex files and hosting them there would be no alternative source.
