I have a weird problem with my GPU. I switched OS to Vista Business (From Win7) recently, and since then my GPU behaves kinda crazy. When I try run 3DMark tests, GPU spikes to 90 - 100*C in less than 1 minute of first test (not always, sometimes during the first set of tests, sometimes during the second). Why is it wierd? Because air coming out from vent is like 40*C... Even after stoping the test, temperature keeps rising. Few minutes ago it spiked to 118*C, though after about 20 seconds it was like 50*C... I OCed GPU a bit, but this is not the cause, it has happened before that. I use Everest for temperatures and RMClock for CPU management. What could be the cause of such behaviour? I'll try to install SP1, maybe something will change...

I'm probably not going to be able to assist, but it might help if you let us know what make/model system you have.

I think the contact surface between the GPU and the copper heatsink is not good. Try taking them part, reapply some heat compound mx-2 or as5 and see how it goes.

    Ouu, I forgot. P 7811 FX of course :)

But why it happens now, and didn't before? I would do that, if I knew how to dissasemble my laptop. I unscrewed all the screws, but didn't know what to do next.

My guess is the screw might be lose due to expansion [heat] and contraction [when off] or the heat compound between the surfaces got dried up thus preventing heat transfer between two mediums.

...or ur temp sensor is faulty.

I would say try using the different GPU driver..
    if that doesn't work,
Change out the THERMAL PAD with new one..
    It costs about $2
