    hey everybody,

i've been doing some reading on this and i don't think it's the same problem as the HD clicking people have been having. for one, people say the HD clicking is continuous and not that loud.

well the clicking i experience is completely different, for one my fx 6860 has really loud one off clicks (can hear it even when standing a few metres from your laptop). and the clicks aren't continuous.

the 6860 just clicks randomly and at different time intervals between each click (varying from 2 to 10 minutes). it's not the speakers because it happens even when i mute them, plus it seems to be coming from under the mouse pad.

is anyone else experiencing these clicks?

or has anyone got a solution

Hmm. I haven't ever heard any. The fact that you say it appears to come from under the mouse pad is very curious. Does it sound like maybe the case is expanding, or is it more of an electrical type click? The reason I ask is the video card is right there and tends to warm the plastic a bit. I have heard previous cases creak as the temp goes up causing the plastic to expand, but have never had it happen on this one. That's most likely not the problem, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

is the notebook usable when it happens or is it turned off/sleep ?

the reason i ask is that once or twice i put it to sleep mode, when came back it was clicking like trying to turn on/off(what the he!! was that about? ). i just restarted it and it went fine but it was quite hot.

The video card isn't under the touchpad. It's in the back under where the power button is. Under the pad is the hard drive.

same thing happens to me, and while gaming, the game stutters for a second when it clicks, don't think it's a big deal though as it rarely happens, like once an hour or something. and i think it only happens in some games, like oblivion for one.

yeah nothings wrong with the laptop, it runs fine no shutdown or sleep problems, plus it doesn't always click, sometimes i'll have it on for hours and i'll hear nothing but then another time it'll click just after start up.

maybe i'm paranoid but i thought i'd ask.

    thanks

also the click sounds mechanical if that helps people.

I just noticed clicking around 2am last night(very loud).. but it doesnt seem to be coming from the touchpad area.. it seems to be a power issue, power supply maybe? I have it connected to the ac without a battery installed i wanted to avoid damaging the battery. I was able to shut it down. Where are the other posts about the clicking issue?

clicking noise comes from the back..it does seem like a power short.. i shut off and restart no problems..i do unplug the power corde from the brick and snuggle it back in.
