I bought a new Gateway NV5214 a couple months ago. All was well until yesterday, when the laptop said "plugged in, not charging". It would charge however if I took the battery out and back in. Anyway, I called customer support and they gave me troubleshooting tips (battery recalibration) which I tried, and a BIOS update.

I have not had another "plugged in, not charging" issue, but now the laptop is not charging when it is turned off and plugged in. However, it is charging while on and plugged in. Any ideas what could be going on?

Edit the laptop did charge when it was plugged in before shutdown, where as earlier I was shutting down then plugging it in. Does that seriously make a difference? The laptop did charge from 0% without being plugged in first earlier when I did the recal. Strange..
