Thanks to all of your help, I am upgrading my gateway. I will be adding a new cpu, another seagate 320 GB HDD, and I just wanted to see If I should upgrade/Add anything else while I am at it. Also, which thermal paste should I use? ICD7? Would you add a Intel 5300 wifi card? Thanks for your help!

    Blu-ray?

    More RAM?

Regarding ICD7/24, I found it very easy to install with less concern if I did something wrong. Supposedly it will last longer than some other pastes, too, which is a plus.

well if you are going to upgrade to blu-ray then upgrading to 1920 x 1200 kinda becomes a necessity if you want to reap the full benefits of the BR drive.

when i got my 7805u; i did the following:-

    - applied ICD7 to X9100 CPU & northbridge
    - installed a 128GB G.skill falcon SSD as primary drive
    - removed all stickers and replaced them with official stickers/badges corresponding to my upgrades ie. Win7 badge, blu-ray badge, Intel Core2Extreme badge etc.
    - upgraded stock screen to 1920 x1200
    - installed HL CT10N bluray drive
    - Pimped out Cryo LX with Scythe S-flex fans (soon to be swapped over for Kaze Jyuni 1900rpm fans for more power)

    - Currently contemplating installing internal bluetooth and upgrading to 8Gb ram.

    For my Cryo LX, i've bought a AC/DC adapter @ 2.2A and 5V so it's 12W. It's a DC adapter for a 4 USB HUB.

    One usb cable delivers normally 0.55A @ 5V (2.75Watt).
So with stock, the Cryo LX takes maximum 2 USB connection (= 5.5W).
With my AC/DC adapter, the fans are running with twice more power. The speed is fast ;) (but a little noisy).

So no more USB cable, just a AC/DC adapter on the 220V ;)

I also agree that a laptop cooler such as the nzxt cryo lx is in order. Upgrading the fans helps a lot too. Running it with the adapter is smart too. As far as your other upgrades, I highly recommend running a SSD drive. They will speed things up drastically for you. My 2 cents, stick with the screen you have ;)
