There are just so many resolution options in games currently it gets confusing as to which one is best for my P-7811. Would anyone care to give a brief description/tutorial on resolution options? I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere on these boards already but I just couldn't find it.

Well the 7811's LCD is 1920x1200 but when I played crysis on my 7811 I put the rez at 1400x1050 instead of 1920x1200 because it got more fps that way.
If I were you I'd first put a game at max settings and if it had a low FPS then I'd change the resolution and if it still go low FPS I'd lower the details and AA.

theoretically, native resolution is the best (probably 1920x1200 on your 17"er), but for demanding games, it might be best to lower it a bit, because this will give you more FPS. it's all about finding the balance, really.

It's all personal preference too. I'd rather stay at native resolution of 1920x1200 and just lower the graphic quality of the game.

    So in summary:

1.) Keep it at native resolution for games it can handle.
2.) Otherwise, tweak the graphic settings until desirable. I'd start with native resolution, tweak individual graphic settings and go from there.

If I can't play at 1920x1200 on high settings, I prefer to go to a lower resolution, like 1440x900, keep the high framerate and eyecandy. For reading text, you are much better of at native resolution and increasing font size.
