I would like to max out the possile space on my laptop. Thanks for you help.
-
currently the largest laptop drives are 500gb, so i would say 1TB of space on your laptop if you buy 2 of them and run it in raid 0
-
probably closer to 900gb once they're formatted
-
roughly 931gb actually. rough estimation as i dont know exactly what 500gb will be after formatting, so i took my number from my 1TB external drive.
-
Cool, thanks. My firend's laptop didn't support the 500GB he got so I wanted to ask before I shelled out the cash for a pair. Although mine is gonna hae to be a smaller setup since I want the 7200rpm drives.

I got 460GB out of my Seagate 5400.6 so brought me in at 920gb usable in Raid0 formatted in NTFS.
The 7200 500gb HDD's should be out sometime soon if you're wanting the space. -
As of today:
500GB 5400rpm X 2 = 1TB @ 5400rpm
320GB 7200rpm X 2 = 640GB @ 7200rpm
500gb 7200rpm wont be out for a year. ive asked this HD question numerous times -
um...everything that i've been hearing about 500gb 7200 rpm drives is that they will be out within the next few weeks.
-
Seagate 7200rpm 500GB will be out any day now.
