I still have 78xx but many times thought about successor. Who of you got rid of 78xx and bought something else?!

A custom built desktop and a Microsoft Surface tablet. The ways of the gaming laptop are dead because it lacks the mobility and the touchscreen interface. The latest apps, environments and productivity programs are going towards touchscreen. The Gateway FX laptop I own still plays games at 1080p (see: Batman: Arkham Origins) but it's too heavy and its battery life is too short for it to be useful apart from being a desktop replacement.

Fair question. If maskedformed is right then their should be some great used/refurb gaming laptops available down the road. I still love my 7811 and Win7 so if it dies I will be looking for a replacement and it is not going to be Windows 8 with a touch screen (as nice as they are I'm sure).
