Out of the box, what would you change? I'd have to say my least favorite thing about my gateway is the general aesthetic to it. I like that it is very minimalistic yet stylish, but it just bores me.

FYI Not a gateway rep.
xD -
It's a classic. There is nothing negative about that machine.

well i am... "the king of thieves"
(yes its from xena...but its ash saying it so its on) -
Get rid of the keypad and replace with propper full-sized arrow and navigation keys (Insert Home PageUp / delete End PageDn) like on a propper keyboard.
Allow much more control in BIOS.
Better video camera. -
better mic for that matter
-
an extra usb port would be nice, and better speakers, but i don't mind the speakers all that much.
-
Better speakers with a sub is a must, remote control, tv tuner, blue ray, better sound car.
-
I'm with the Its a classic commentor. I think for the $ spent you can't beat this pc honestly I went from a desktop with 1.8 GHz w\ 6xxx series Nvidia and this lappy smokes it!
I would def agree with the white number keys and most certainly change the control with fcn key on the left, I hate that (always press windows key in games when trying to crouch or whatever)
The only 2 things I want are the t9300 (installed 10 min ago) and a 2nd 320 gig HD that is it...
I got this for college and let me tell you it is perfect for gaming err... uh... I mean... for studying...(COD4) -
7811 here.
-speakers
-enlarge the right shift key
-touch media controls are whacky sometimes
-more usb ports
Other than that I'm a happy camper. -
A reinforced lid and an extra USB port or two would be my wish.

Oh to not have to worry about my panel shattering if i "accidentally" lift it with less than a hand on each corner or very carefully in the center -
better speakers with a sub would be nice. (my old acer 5920g had better sound) also sometimes i hate where they put the headphone/mic input because it can get in the way of my mouse.
-
I think my biggest overall gripe is placing ports for things that are likely to stick out (headphones, Mic, USB) directly next to the mouse. I like to have the mouse quite close to the center or I feel off-center, and all that stuff jutting out of the right side of the laptop doesn't help.

I just paid $869.00 for my P-7811 on 11-09-08 at Best Buy, I returned one of the two that I purchased this morning at the Dearborn Michigan location if anyone is interested, it was never opened up.
They did NOT even charge me a restocking fee. -
I'd give mine wheels and a steering wheel.

So far, the only thing I would change about my 7811 is Gateway's customer support.
For $900, I couldn't have asked for more in a laptop...other than better Gateway support. (Knock on wood - I haven't had to attempt to use them for the 7811, however, they completely destroyed the Vista install on my wife's FX desktop). -
An aluminum unibody like the new macbooks
better speakers
upgradeable GPU
Extra RAM slot
Illuminated keyboard
LED backlight -
-Shrink it to 15"
-backlit keyboard
-tri-sli gtx 280's
Is that too much to ask? -
9800m GTX
1680 1050 res
Red and black model colorway
That is my dream
What would you change about your gateway if you could?
