I'm using the drivers off the Gateway website. The drivers that came with the laptop incorrectly list the video card as a GeForce 8800M GT on the Vista Welcome Center. The new ones from Gateway list it as an 8800M GTS. Two Nvidia demos, Adrianne and Cascades, do not work with these drivers though.

I downloaded the driver and when I started to install it a warning came up saying that this driver was for I believe windows 2000 and XP. Am I missing something... should I just go ahead and download it?

Whats the performance difference with laptopvideo2go drivers? I would love to see benchmarks showing what is currently working the best.

They feel a little zipper but my 3dmark score didn't change much after switching drivers. Crysis was certainly smoother.

I found 171.16 on Laptopvideo2 go and I am using those. However I am running the 64bit version of Vista. These drivers work great for me though. I think for vista 32 bit there is a Forceware 173.xx driver on that website as well. I am pretty sure that I came across it when I was downloading the driver for my version of Vista.

Is there a special version of nvidia Forceware drivers needed for the 6831FX 8800GTS video card? I think I tried downloading one off nvidias site when I first got mine a few weeks back and it gave me some warning to the effect that it wasn't compatible with my chipset/manufacturer (or some such thing) and exited. What's up with that? How can you install updated drivers?

If you go to Laptop video 2 go it will explain to you on the website what you need to do to install the updated drivers. They have a section on there that explains what you need to install the updated drivers correctly and without the error that you will get if you try to use the drivers directly from Nvidia. You have to download the correct driver for your version of Windows as well as the .inf file to go along with whatever driver version you download.
