Do I want to place another HDD in my 6860. Or since it is mostly for storage buy a big external drive.
I was tilting on putting another internal 320g 5k rpm drive....but I was wondering how significant will it stress the laptops cooling.

If its simply for storage and you don't need that data to come with you everywhere, an external eSata Drive will offer MUCH higher performance and capacity at a much lower cost.

You can get a 500GB USB 2.0 drive for around $80.

really?
can you link this external hdd? -
I've put in a 2nd harddrive, a 160gb western digital scorpio because I needed to dual-boot 32-bit Windows XP and it doesn't seem to affect the cooling much. I don't "tilt" my laptop or use any cooling pads, either. No problems gaming or whatnot.

I wouldn't think it'll heat up that much, the location of the drives dont' seem to be on top of the CPU or anything
But if you're just looking for storage, i'd just do external.
Circuit City's got a 2.5" 250gb toshiba for 89.99

or the 160gb one for 10 dollars less

I'm running dual 320s right now and the heat isn't an issue with me. It gets about the same as it normally does for me. The part of the palm reset where both of the hard drives go is about the same temp now as it was with a single drive in my case. Plus I would rather have the storage inside the laptop because then I wouldn't have to worry about forgetting the drive or have to plug/unplug it every time I need it. All I have to do it go to computer. But then again I do have a 3rd drive that is 120gb usb drive so I have both setups.
Which to do for more storage....
