I know there are multiple posts and the sticky for nvidia drivers, but I was wondering what everyone is running for drivers for the 8800M GTS.
I have a Gateway P-6860fx and I am running Dox's 180.70
-
those or the new 84's
-
Same as mimino. Try 180.84 its good. Use it while until DOX release his next driver.
Edit: Scratch that keep 180.70 Dox edition. Its smoother (higher min fps) thank this driver. -

Also if you want to try out another give Xfastest 180.70 a try i have great fps gaming, I'm also going to try Dox's and compare the two.
-
6831fx ... factory drivers. 3dmark06 dropped when i used custom drivers. no gain in fps... for me that is!
-
Go for Dox's 180.70 custom drivers.
I cant use the 180.84's because Dox's version does not have support for us x64 users, but from what I have heard, the 180.84 ones aren't so great.

Currently running the 180.48 WHQL's.

Dox 180.84 for me. I've never seen my 6831 perform better. Better FPS and dropped my GPU temps almost 10 deg. running Crysis at the same settings. Dropped temps enough to actually OC the GPU without it overheating for the first time. Everything I've tried from Crysis to HL2 runs lightyears better with lower temps than any other driver I've tried. Of course my system seems to be weird. The only other driver I could use was 160.67. Every other driver other than Dox 180.84 would either create graphic glitches, insanely high temps at stock clock-settings, or system crashes. Drivers that other people would rave about would prevent my comp from even loading some games.

... why???

I'm using the DOX 180.70 drivers and i like them. I got a large enough boost to my frame rate that i now down clock my video card and shave 10-15 degrees off the temps and still maintain 100+fps on most games i play

i'm experimenting with the 180.84's, but my machine has performed the fastest with the 180.70's (xfastest)
-
I'm using 180.70 dox drivers and they work like a charm. I have yet to find better drivers.

Another vote for DOX's 180.70. Definitely the best experience in terms of FPS. They made LOMAC playable at the highest resolution with everything turned to high except visibility range (custom) and water (medium). I might try XFastest and compare, as I have also heard great reviews about it, but I've tried a lot of drivers and the one I'm on now is definitely the best.
Now if only I could find a driver that would allow me to make the visibility range high... -
Is anyone using the recently released nvidia laptop drivers? How do they perform compared to Dox 180.70 or 180.84?

Second, are you just messing with us, or do you seriously think low gaming performance on battery is due to clogged fans? Because fans don't unclog themselves when plugged in... -
LOL Danja let him look dumb. Don't bother
Regarding which is the best driver. I would like to update this by saying that the best one for 8800m GTS as of 1/31/09 for me is LV2Go 185.20.
Soon enought DOX will release 185.20 DOX "Optimised", so that will soon enought be the better driver. -
LV2G 185.20
I can run Fear 2 totally maxed out at 30-ish FPS -
The new DOX 185.20 driver just came out. USE that one it is the greatest as of now.
This thread should be stickied so we dont have to keep bumping it.
Like best driver for 8800m and 9800m gpus. -
where do you get these DOX drivers?
Which video drivers do you run for 8800M GTS
