IDT® HD Audio Driver [Formerly SigmaTel® HD Audio Driver]

    Version 6263 (Dec 14, 2009)

Modded with the assistance of a helpful post that is no longer on Laptopvideo2go.

    http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?minzowmkgnw

A search of google's cache will help you if you wish to further mod the driver.
I'm not sure if you can get the SRS and Dolby effects on the HDMI out as it is on the speakers/headphones. Feel free to download and give it a shot, I'm simply posting this for anyone else with a Gateway 6000 series FX that ventured into Win 7 and needs HDMI audio and can't stand the stutter of the default driver. :)

Apart from what the screenshots of the Win7 control panel say, this driver is HDCP compliant, and I have been using it as such to my HDTV. Before installing this driver I couldn't get my laptop to handshake correctly with my TV in the Nvidia control panel. Working fine now.

I may or may not make adjustments to the driver in the future, if so I'll try and update here. If anyone else wants to host it somewhere other than mediafire, please feel free.

    Cheers.

Real nice find... I have been on the same website trying to configure and mod my own drivers but to little or no success based on which driver it was. Great job, it works well... but...

My mic array still isnt working... it only registers taps on the hole, as if the boost is turned waaaay own... Ive tried tweaking it but have any of you other 6860FX users seen that your array does not work?

Yeah I think you're right, I remember something in the inf's which disabled the option to add the 20db boost to the array mic. I'll try and sort through it after work and post another driver. Keep in mind this was a generic driver that was modded for dell's :) I really only set all the proper jacks and pinouts for our laptops, didn't dig too deep yet.

Thanks... so your mic array does not work either? I just want to make sure its a driver issue and not a hardware problem... if yours does not work and you get a chance to tweak the inf... let me know :)

My array microphone works fine, just doesn't have the option to boost the input by 20db like I *think* it had in Vista. I recorded a sound file just to be sure.

hi thank i tried these drivers and still no sound is coming through HDMI, i tried different laptop and it works fine, thought there may be a problem with the tv set. possibly bad HDMI port on the 6860? it still displays fine? am i crazy even thinking that only sound is broken through hdmi and not video?

You can try updating your nvidia drivers also, then in the Nvidia control panel, advanced settings under Display > Change resolution. Verify that the Nvidia panel doesn't have HDMI audio turned off. I can assure you that even though the audio source is the IDT codec, the HDMI setting in Nvidia's panel can disable the audio.

Image attached is the relevant settings in the nvidia panel.

thx man that did the trick, i think my nvidia control panel software was outdated or something because it was only showing DVI as an option. after updating the drivers i had the HDMI (audio enabled) option and it worked good. appreciate the help.

For some reason I am unable to install this on my 6860FX. Attached is a screenshot of the error I am getting. I definitely have a 6860FX (see second attachment).

I keep getting stuttering problems within WMP12 and it's annoying the sh*t out of me and was hoping your driver would fix it.

    Thanks!

Alright, if you could find it and post it I would greatly appreciate it. Every other song there is a stutter and I can't stand it!

Two things come to mind, you might have installed some other driver and the generic idt cant overwrite properly. If so, uninstall the old driver completely, either through its control panel applet or add/remove programs.

Alternatively, try installing through device manager, update the driver for the audio manually, point windows to the folder with the inf.

Unless by some fluke your hardware id for your device is reporting differently, which is the only reason the installer should fail out. If you're feeling ambitious you could copy and paste it into the inf and rerun setup.

Attached pic with hardware id's shown, you can right click them and copy paste where you see similar id's in the drivers .inf

Should only need to add it to WRT.INF in the \WDM\Vista subfolder.

Thanks rds. I got it to work after uninstalling the generic driver. I am using the RCA to SPDIF. I am still noticing some slight lag when playing my music. I honestly don't know what it could be. It's happening with every driver I use. Thanks again for your help!

Ok so i finally found the old modded driver that i did with the help of mobilenvidia from Laptopvideo2go

This is the link where you can find the original thread.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=391370

The Driver works very well. never had e problem with them since i did the mod.

I had do go back to the original gateway drivers yesterday for some reasons but i thing the mic array works fine also

I will give it a shot later with the newest drivers from laptopvideo2go and try a and get them to work.

I have modded the newest driver and i will post it later after i do some testings. Important thing is that the welcome sound of win 7 was working.

I have to go now. :(

EDIT: The mic array works. as far as is ca see. Will give it a shot with HDMI.
Shame its not HDCP sound card and we have HDMI 1.2

Thanks Lum-X! I will have to try your driver out and see if the stuttering goes away altogether.

Since the HDMI is non-HDCP for the audio portion does that mean it will only produce 5.1 sound? or is it less?

I think our sound card supports only 2 channels even thought at Vista i had options to chose between 2 and 5.1 setup but not any more. I have the same problem with Creative Xi-fi. I can only chose 2/2.1 and Headphone setup.

As i know its a windows 7 bug relateetd to this.

Driver mod has an issue, things like Dobly features and equalizer are not working for some reasons.

I'll take a look at them one more time and try to figure out whats happening.
