Has anyone tried upgrading straight from Vista 64 to Windows 7 RC1 with any luck? Any special drivers you need for Windows 7 or can you use all the Vista drivers?

Anyone notice performance gains in video games/multitasking with Windows 7 on their gateway laptop?

i actually went from vista 64 ult to windows 7 7077 to 7100 with no problems. the issue i'm having is when playing lotro, in 1920x1200 windowed mode, i get like 15 to 20 fps. if i play at 1920x1080, it's like 50 to 60 fps.

other than that, it works great!

Just got my 7805u and loaded Win 7 RC1 and it's running great. I'm not a gamer so I can't speak to any games but everything else is going well.

I never used vista much, but it seems like what people said it about it.
vista's personality/performance + xp's stability.. Ive only had a few games crash but thats because of there software for 64bit and beta o/s's.

wat version of windows 7 are you using (32bit or 64bit). my is 64bit so i downloaded the vista 64bit card reader driver. i forgot if there ever a message poped up about digital signature. even there is one, i would simply click let it go. at least i have no problem with my card reader so far.

I'm running 64bit too. I ran the installer and midway thru my system rebooted. :( I reran the installer and it finished fine but I still have that message in Device Manager. My SD card worked before and it still works so I guess I'm good.

I just uninstalled through Device Manager and selected the option to Delete the installed driver. I did a Scan for Hardware Changes, pointed to the driver location and BAM!! I'm all set! Thanks again!!!

lol...that's simply weird, i am positively sure when i did the installer method. it installed fine and finds the mass storage. anyway, glad to hear that you got it to work. ;)
