So I recently Got the upgrade version of Windows 7 Home Premium. I upgraded the first time and everything seemed to go fine. I needed to reload my video driver, so i uninstalled the old one and installed a new one (dox 185.85). I played MW2 for like 2 hours with no problem. I tried playing again the next day and the game kept freezing my laptop. I tried new video drivers (dox 182.05, the one I was using in Vista) and only had REALLY bad artifacts. So then I tried the official nvidia 195.62 drivers only to have them have the same problem as the dox 185.85 drivers.

I reinstalled drivers correctly each time by uninstalling, restarting, using driver sweeper, and then using CCleaner.

So then I figured it may have been because I just upgraded as opposed to a full reformat. So I reformatted the HDD back to Vista and then instead of doing a Windows 7 upgrade, I did the whole reformat/clean install of Windows 7.

I have since tried both the 185.85 dox drivers and the 195.62 official nvidia drivers only to have the same freezing problem happen after only 15-20min. of gameplay.

Any ideas as to whats going wrong?

    Hi

Don't know if this might help you, but something similar happened to me.

I have a P7811FX, and after installing W7 it started behaving weird and doing all kinds of silly things like fans running crazy then stopping, ejecting USB drives and external hard drives took a long time, some programs also took a while to load, etc.

Like you, I also uninstalled and re-installed drivers, substituted old ones for newer ones and viceversa, same thing.

So, I did a clean install of W7, and let windows update take care of my drivers and upgrades, did it fix the issues? Nope. I thought "Darn my Lappy doesn't like Windows 7".

It was not until I did a clean install of W7, only this time I applied the drivers that came with the laptop, even though they were older drivers. And only then, had MS-Update do it's thing. Now the fan runs great, USB and external HD's eject fast and all the previous apps that took a while to load, now do so quickly.

Now my HDMI is dead :( but not because of W7 though... It was working fine last night, but that's another story.

Seems like W7 it's still not up to date as far as drivers go. Anyway, just my 2cents, good luck.

drivers from the gateway website didn't work either.

I get a couple of random horizontal pin lines on the screen and then the game freezes. I can still bring up task manager though.

Here is another thing I found. My graphics card doesn't even show up under the "Display adapters" area of the Device Manager after I uninstall the driver. It only show the standard VGA Graphics adapter.
