I have posted the whole chat below. They say apologies, etc. but no concrete service. I am greatly disappointed. I am stuck with this. Can any one help me on the following:
    1. Buffering while watching internet videos
    2. Low volume on laptop.

Their exact chat is given below. How they cheat public?

Unfortunatly you are not allowed to post private correspondence, whether it be emails or live chats. Especially one in which you not only list your name, but your laptops serial number (that could get your warrenty or even OS key stolen)

Unless you have a bum wireless card or one that is barely attached (causing intermittent signal) there isnt really going to be a hardware issue with your computer because of buffering. That has almost 100% to do with your ISP.

As to the Volume... If i remember correctly under the advanced settings of your speakers there are 3 or 4 tabs. One of those has a hidden master volume controller. This is normally set to 1/2 power on just about all laptops that i have seen. By raising this all the way up you can get a decent boost to speaker volume. But as goes with out saying, dont expect miracles out of two 1in very low power speakers that are placed in your notebook

The buffering could be several issues. knowing what laptop is a first concern then the router, connection type etc. My LT-3103u at first was really poor with video but getting it to proper settings got it working well. It isn't Gateways but the users and/or ISP's problem, Just trying to help out here but if they are not sure how to just burn a DVD then Networking issues may be beyond the users reach.

One easy way to eliminate the wireless as an issue is turn the wireless off and plug the ethernet of the laptop into the router. Do this and try the same video other computes run without buffering. If it doesn't buffer then you severly need to correct the wireless connection unless the bandwidth is so high the AES wireless encryption is just flooding the CPU.

Sound is a bit different of an issue. A bit easier to tweak, but as mentioned do not expect miracles.

For what it is worth, my first experience with Gateway was almost my last. After we had issues with the 2nd computer we bought from them, we ended up fixing it ourselves and never looked at Gateway computers again.

That was over 10 years ago. Unfortunately, Gateway still has not folded though I am glad to see their retail share diminishing year over year.

Anyway, don't rely on Gateway's tech support. That's what we are here for.

    Now, what's the problem?

Yeah unfortunately Gateway has never really recovered from their dark days of battling it out with Dell. They lost that and had to regroup severly. And for a while they were doing really well.

Not the best in the game but they were putting out really nice systems for great prices, and the customer service was decent. But since Acer bought Gateway it has fallen back to its low value customer service again. They still are putting out good systems, but theres nothing but places like NBR backing them up with Customer Service... but as Greg said, thats what we're here for. :p

I agree I used to own gateways, laptops and Desktops.. I had a P-7811 FX and a P-7805u FX and both were nothing but problems, either crashing or overheating.. I never got anywhere with gateways tech support. I ended up selling my Gateways and will never return to the Gateway scene again.. I hope you get your problems worked out.

I'm not backing up Gateways less than zero tech support, look how bad Alienware was before Dell picked them up. I could tell you horror stories on my Dell!!

However this forum has more than sold a few laptops for Gateway, that for the price point, has been about $1000 less than most. I would venture most people have had an OK experience; I've been lucky with none major. I even got my free power brick just by calling tech support ;) I feel the exasperation for many having to sit through scripts to get nowhere

We have a great forum here to help all..so was wondering how the OP made out? Sure sounded like a wireless modem problem?

Having had to deal with Dell's "tech support" before... Let's just say that I'd rather shave my legs with a rusty chainsaw that shoots flames... And I'm a dude that doesn't shave his legs. :p

Having been a PC tech for several years I can tell you that good tech support on the part of the manufacturer is really a thing of the past... That is until you move your way up to the chain.

HP probably has better tech support than most... And I've wanted to blow my brains out with their tech support. I can't imagine Acer/Gateway/eMachines being much worse.

And let us not forget the ultimate horror: having to deal with Microsoft.

Oh man, I get nightmares thinking about it :(

Incidentally, in my countless dealings with MS... They've been pretty good.

On the superior side of things... Samsung and Logitech seriously rock.
