I just did the video card trick, making it 128 MB instead of 256, and WOW what a difference! I suggest anyone who hasn't thought to do this to do it! It's amazing what 128 MB ram can do!

On a side note, I am now considering upgrading my ram. Can I expect to see this kind of increase in performance upgrading to 2 GB?

Furthermore, will my 1622 support 4 GB? Would that be overkill?

    Thanks!

On my Dell, I have 2 gigs of ram, and I'm constantly running in the 45-53% usage zone. I think that means your computer should be close to maxed out with only 700mbs of ram to use..

Vista is a memory hog. I'm liking it less and less as time passes. Today, I couldn't hook up to an open access point that I've been using for th elast year for no apparent reason. Still haven't figure it out.

lol you think 128mb makes a difference? try another gig more. as for the support it really depends on your OS. 64bit supports 4gb and 32bit supports only 2gb

How would I go about finding what it is? It's just the Vista Premium that came preinstalled with my 1622...

Freeing that 128mb def makes a difference if you "only" have 1gb and running Vista.

Vista home premium should be 32bit unless you do a clean install using a 64bit disc.

By the way Frys.com is selling a 2Gb corsair ddr2 for 35 after rebate.

Do NOT buy that 2gb memory stick from Frys as you will lose dual channel mode. Bad advice!
