Well it seems that as I thought the X7800 does indeed overclock to 3ghz. My 3Dmark06 score has gone from 7800 (T7250 no overclock) to 10475 (with overclock of 631/956 on the GPU).
Temps were surprisingly good at around 66deg loaded in 3dmark for the CPU. I recon with the time available to play i can break 11k on this laptop (since it was on a dirty install, with no optimisations at all).
Also another thing to note, Vista recon's my memory is faster now too.

Nice, with a clean install you'll probably gain about 200-250 marks, I had 7000 with a dirty install and 7188 with a clean install. The RAM score is higher because the processor can write to the RAM faster than your previous processor that was slower.
What were your GPU temps with those O/C's and were you using a cooler? -
Clean install and windows optimizeations will be good for 350ish then 3dmark tweaks good for about the same again taking me clear of 11k quite easily.
Also i was using no cooler, the laptop was just on my lap and only did 3 run's to get a rough idea of max overclock, but again i recon i've got another 20-30 in both core and ram available as there was no artifacting in either so better cooling should easily give me that, that will be good for another 100-150 marks, so there is a chance i can mess with some of the GTX scores on this site.
Didn't notice GPU temps, all i can say is that the fans were not at full speed by any means. -

Don't forget that 3dmark06 tends to have a range of scores. Doesn't hurt to keep trying just to see what you get. (If you have the time that is
)
-
-
did 4 days of testing.
that 10746 was a hard score to beat! -
start with these clocks. no sense in having you waisting a bunch of extra time during finals.
642/942 -
Did some more testing, had a poor firefly (over 2fps down
) otherwise 11k would have been mine 10899
-
Looks like you got dethroned, johnkss
lol, nice score there killeroverload. -
damn nice!!!
-
-
Time for you to catch up johnksss
Yea and wrong link lol. Or were you trying to pull a fast one? -
nah, he is up there
-
Nah, I believed him, just more fun this way.
Are you going to be trying for 11k, johnksss?
By the way, what do you do with your Hp dv9700 and MacBook? -
your right..more fun!
going for 11k, since he made it possible!
doing nothing with the hp at the moment and the macbook is for troubleshooting customers with mac's -
woohoo, competition
, well your prob going to have till next weekend to have a go at beating me, i've still not done a clean install (although i did shut down some things in vista), still running just the laptop on my lap (starting to think my card is very nice
and so i'll give it some more airflow next run.
Also going to play with my ram timings a bit so i'm hoping for 11.1k ish not my innitial guess but still over 11k.
Might also have a go at your stock 3dmark06, will add some points to my hwbot score hopefully. -
nice work killeroverlaod!!
glad to see you found a decent working video driver, because al them 174. drivers we're prety much junk if you ask me.
going to play with this tonight and see what i come up with.
keep an eye out for a copy of our bios... so i can over clock out cpu's to something like 3.2 or 3.4. then we might catch them gtx's.... woooohoooo -
Right now, I think you're already competing with a number of default 8800M GTX scores.
Go for it, should be fun. -
Can you test in WUXGA?
-
sure...will do it in a bit.
-
-
this is my 3dmark score with cpu overclocked at 2.9ghz

anyway did you got those scores with 1280x1024? -
8800M GTX scores, assuming a T9300 or T8300 tend to range about 9,000+ fresh out of box. You get higher ones too of course.
If you look at his sig, he's got 1280 x 800 as well as 1280 x 1024 scores.
You're Taiwanese or Hong Konger aren't you, nirvana? -

-
Im interested too.
-
Intel X7800 L2 4MB 2.6GHz GBP 135.00
Shipping and handling GBP 15.00
Total: GBP 150.00
(international shipping)
the value for money was too tempting
couldn't resist
3 more in the store -
wow, who's the seller?
-
that's who i ordered from, the chips are ES which is not mentioned in the listing, but this does not really matter at all as they have all the same instructions as retail chips.
I asked for a discount with mine before i bid, hence getting it for £140 shipped.
-
-
well I've learned something today
next time I'll bargain as well -
How much would the be in dollars, I wonder if he ships to the us?
-
About $520. It says ships worldwide for 15 pounds. That's for the X9000.
The X7800 is slightly less than $300. -
