What would you guys pay for an x9000 ES chip?
I bought one off ebay for a decent priced and I want to flip it because I am taking a vacation at the end of the month. Let me know what you guys think. I bought it for 300, would like to get 350 out of it.

X9100 processors sell for $300. Your maximum (ethical) sale value would be around $280-$290.
-
Hmm, I have seen several x9000's go above 350 on ebay, and have seen a few listed at 599, doubt they are selling though. The guys with 800mhz fsb's aren't able to run the x9100s making the x9000s more valuable to them.
The last two weeks I have seen 2 x9000s go on ebay at 360+ each. -
-
Actually in my opinion its one of the better options for the gateway fx owners and many others. For people who are stuck on the 800mhz fsb platforms, the x9000 is the coolest running, highest clocking, chip out there and its only 350 bucks. Many of these chips can push 3.4ghz, and some can be pushed as far as 4.2ghz.
It's certainly not cheap by any means, but it's a great processor and an amazing upgrade for some people. -
What ES code is it? For example mine is a Q174. If it is a revision with working temp sensors I would say around $300.

A lot has changed in the market for X9000 CPUs in the last month. Now that they can be easily unlocked and overclocked, the price has gone up and up. It's all supply and demand. Very little to no supply + lots of demand = high price.
The guy that is asking $599 for an X9000 on ebay has sold two already this month at $549 so I guess he figures he might as well ask for more. Now his asking price is $599. Too rich for me but someone must be buying these.
A month ago $325 for an X9000 was a good deal but good luck finding one at that price now. -
^ What an absolutely horrendous price point! You might as well buy a used/refurbished version of the latest FX laptop!
-
^ but you would still have a weaker cpu than the X9000...
The X9000 was never known for it's price/performance ratio. The X9000 also being rare brings up the price but it is the best CPU for the p965 chipset. -

True, with Throttlestop, the only way you're going to potentially out muscle a X9000 is with an X9100 in a 7805/7811 and X9100's still go for $275-$300+.
X9000's @ 3.4-3.6ghz are holding their own with i7's and that's just, well, nice. -
So do you guys think asking 350 would be reasonable for the chip on the boards?
-
No.
I say do eBay if you want so much, and then return here if all doesn't go as plan. I'm sure you can get $350 for it, but you've already announced that you got it for $300. -
Asking $350 is reasonable. You bought an asset that has increased in value since you bought it. I was watching the Barrett-Jackson auction last night and I didn't see any sellers selling their cars for what they originally paid for them. Why should they? The buyers all looked very happy even after paying a ridiculous price.
Most computer parts are rapidly depreciating assets. Kind of nice to get lucky once in a while and buy a CPU that is actually going up in value. The X9000 is probably near its peak so it's a good time to sell it.
Anyone looking to buy an X9000 might be better off buying an entire laptop that has an X9000 already and then doing a swap and then reselling the laptop on ebay. -
Supply and demand. You want as much as you can get for the item you're selling when users are so compelled to paying such prices. -
does anyone know ignite? i bought a gtx 280 from him 3 almost 4 weeks ago and have yet to get it.
-
I wouldnt even pay $200 for one. i mean my entire laptop was $709 shipped and its completely functional with a slow P7350. my games run smooth, would I like a faster CPU? Of course, is an extra 1000mhz going to give me my monies worth? I highly doubt it. At $150-160 id be tempted, but any more then then id just sell my laptop and buy a faster one (MSI Core I7 + ati 5850) or something

An X9000 ES sold for only $203.50 yesterday on ebay. Looks like some sanity has returned to the market.

There's an OEM one up for sale if anyone is interested. It's at the same price at the moment but I know it will be going up because there is still a day and a half of bidding left. -
