Hey Guys/Gals I just bought a couple x9000's and I'm going to install one in my fx6860 not sure what I'm going to do with the other one. I got them for about $450+ shipping if I end up not using the others I might be willing to sell. Anyway I will let you all know how it turns out and if I'm happy with the upgrade! I guess if you want to buy the spares Let me know too. By the way they are not engineering samples :p and brand new so not a bad deal!

Is your BIOS configured to support the option of setting the CPU multiplier....!! Otherwise you would have to change the multiplier through software each time....!!
I dont know about Gateway but Dell maybe offers the option of setting the multiplier in the BIOS..!!
I installed one in my D630 and had a custom BIOS made for it to support those options..!!

I have read up a bit of stuff on this and as far as i can tell Since i have no desire to overclock it everything is plug and play. Unless I'm wrong? I am thinking I should not have bought 2 haha being as the laptop is no longer on sale at bestbuy and I dont want to pay more for another one..... so if anyone wants a retail not es x9000 let me know.

the gateway p-68xx bios allow setting the x-treme processors frequency up to 3.0Ghz. its as simple as it can be, boot into bios and chose your desired frequency 2.6 /2.8/ 3.0 (on my x7800)

Use the program CPU-Z to see if it is NOT an ES CPU, I am guessing it will be, but hope you are lucky. Let us know how it turns out, as I have a X9000 on my P-6860FX and it is an easy plug in play. God Bless :)
