Hey everyone,
I have a p-7805u laptop which has been performed incredibly well for the past few years but is now getting a little long in the tooth. I want to upgrade the CPU in order to squeeze a few more years out of the machine and this site has been great for research purposes. Based on the comments here, I've decided on the x9100 but am unable to find any of the E0 stepping versions. It seems that most members on the site were able to get the QHBQ versions from Shirleyfu on ebay, but now both she and all the other sellers only have SLB48 and QBDW versions for sale. I was wondering if I should just go ahead and get a C0 version or keep trying to find an E0 version. I'm worried about heat issues since my laptop gets very hot now with just the stock CPU. If anyone knows where I could find an e0 version, that would be great.
Thanks

E0 runs MUCH cooler, so it's well worth it. For example - I could go up to 3,2GHz with X9000 (C0, same performance as X9100 C0), and now with the X9100 E0 - up to 3,6GHz. There was one for sell on eBay just couple of days ago and someone made pretty nice deal - $147,50 (free shipping for the US). If you are patient enough you could snatch one at some point. And yes, just as you, I asked every single seller out there and all of them said no. I waited another month or so, and I got it from a place I wasn't expecting at all - my country, for dirt cheap on top of it

Thanks for the reply Triturbo. I actually saw that x9100 on ebay a few days ago and was the sole bidder until someone sniped it from me in the last few seconds for two and half dollars more. Needless to say, I was not pleased. I think I'll just keep holding out until I'm able to find one. I was hoping that someone may know where I would be able to obtain one. The only E0 versions I can actually find are on sites like Aliexpress, which is a bit too risky for my tastes.
-
That's a rare piece, you should have bid higher, also taking in account that C0 goes around that much. While it was still up for sale, E0s were about $350! Sorry to tell you, but you missed quite of a deal

I know
I very rarely buy anything from ebay, and when I do, it's always something that's "Buy It Now". I'm not used to the auctions. Now I'll have to go back to monitoring the site everyday.
I did find this:
Wholesale Intel Dual Core X9100 QHBQ laptop cpu QS Version
But I don't know if I should go for it. -
Depending on what laptop you have, you might want to consider a qx9200 - the QAVS and QAVR are cheaaap right now, and the chip is a beast - not only is it overclockable, but even at 2 GHz it should beat the X9100 in intensive apps. Undervolt it and the temperature will be about the same as a C0 X9100

@jotm - Quad would be nice, but he said that his lappy is already on the hot side.
@bea004a - I personally never bought from there, but few Acer members bought 6770Ms from there, not from this seller though. -
ANYWHO, if anyone finds one for $150~ im also very interested... E0 or bust... expecially with the reviews here on "vs" and other sites as well... the E0 is a "hawt" little number -
Like Hammerfest said, based on everything I've read on this site, my p-7805u is not quad compatible. There are really three best upgrade options: The T9900, X9100 C0, and X9100 E0. Unfortunately, the C0 have heating problems, the E0 are nonexistent, and the T9900 is still relatively expensive for an old chip. Does anyone know if it is possible to overclock the T9900?

I've just ordered one from ebay. Can't wait to get it work in my lappy)) -
The E8435 is not the best choice IMO - it was meant for desktop Macs and as such it lacks several power saving features, it doesn't undervolt properly and most importantly, it's got a 45W TDP and even the E0 will run hotter than an undervolted C0 X9100. Not really worth it...
I'd go for a C0 and undervolt it - it's cheaper than the T9900 ($125 on eBay right now) and the temps will probably be good enough as long as you don't overclock (or if you're lucky, you'll get an extra 133-333 MHz at low voltages)... -
Just for note, according to cpubenchmark.net the scores are: 2369 (T9900) vs 2300 (X9100) vs 2291 (E8435).

just got my C0 E8435 in!
Undervolted to 1.1125 @3.06Mhz and got 11461 3Dmark06 points with GPU OC. Runs pretty cool and stable...
Everest Ultimate Edition strangely showing my CPU is T9900 in Motherboard>CPU and E8435 in Motherboard>CPUID...... Wonder is that a common mistake for this cpu? -
Just a heads up for anyone looking for an x9100; I'm selling mine that I bought a month and some odd weeks back. I'm selling it at a discount. [115 compared to the 130+ prices]. The only reason I'm selling is because my laptop didn't like it [Fan shorting. Even on a new fan. Thus I need a new motherboard.]

I got tired of waiting for an e0 version of the X9100, so I decided to take the plunge and just bought a new c0 version off of ebay for $129. I'm hoping that the new processor, in combination with a new Sandisk extreme 240 gig ssd, will significantly speed up my p-7805u. Does anyone know what the next steps taken should be after installing the processor? As in: How to test the processor speeds and temps, if any bios changes are necessary, whether to undervolt / overclock using throttlestop, etc.
Thanks guys -
yeah im content to hunt/wait for an x9100 E0...
-
I just picked up a X9100 (QHBQ E0) For $148
Did I get a good deal? -
-
For $300, I got a X9100 E0, 120GB SSD, 8GB RAM, and Artic Silver cooling compound.
So it should speed it up significantly. -
with those upgrades you should ahve a nice system...........
-
-
Just saw the listing you were talking about on ebay. Looks like the seller jacked up the price from $148 to to $189. Still, even $189 is a good deal for a new e0 x9100. Which is why I feel like an idiot because I just bought the c0 a few weeks ago and now I just bought the e0. Now I have to resell the c0. Time never seems to be on my side.
-
Glad I picked it up for $148, I probably bought it so quick, he realized the value. -
yeah the seller said he doesnt have anymore in the US warehouse, so its probably shipping from china... euck... he said 2 weeks before his next batch gets to the us warehouse
-
Those will sell in a heart beat. Of those who want, they all want E0 stepping...............
-
So any luck with the x9100?
