I have gotton myself whiped up into a frenzy over the Gateway 7422GX. Unfortunately I first started researching it when it was on sale at Best Buy (where else?) for $1,250. I planned to purchase one as soon as it went on sale again, and have been checking Best Buy's website constantly to see it it is on sale yet (which is silly since it only changes on Sunday). I noticed that the 7422GX, which is not on sale, had a "SOLD OUT" next to it this week. Today, I see that it is just missing from the website. What does this mean?! It's been pulled, why? Because it was such a killer deal? Problems with quality? A new model is coming out? Care to speculate?

I went to a local Best Buy today to investigate. The guy there (FWIW) knew nothing about the machine. He looked it up and said there were lots of them in stock and the computer said their stock goes through 12/5/2005 on this model.

I noticed that the 7422GX that they had on display had a crack on the left hinge almost all the way across from hinge to edge. It sure seemed structural to me - that is, more than asthetic (sp?)...

Theres a new one coming out at the end of this month, 7426GX, so I'd wait out a few more weeks if you can. It'll have Mobile AMD64 3700+, ATI X700 128mb. vram, 1 GIG ram, 100 gig 5400RPM harddrive, bright & glossy screen for only $1249 after rebates.

haha, just kidding! There is really a new 7426 coming out and it's only been confirmed it'll have 100gig HDD. But they only improve the specs more each time a new one is released!

Interesting... We sure love our 7422GX systems running on XP Pro 32 bit and XP Pro 64bit... Glad we got the deals at $1,149.00 each...when we did!
Check this link for your 7422GX. Just $100 more than the BB Deal...

But then again 20 more gigs for $1,500.00 plus bucks don't sound like any kind of a deal to me on the 7426GX I wonder if your getting XP Pro with SP2 on this rig???[?]

You know that the ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9550 is a scale down version of the real ATI 9500 Pro?
