ok i got this the other day, and iy has vista 64bit on it, haveing a few compatability issues so i thought id solve the problem and just go back to old faithful windows xp.

    but.......
finding drivers on the gateway website, well easier said than done, is there anone who can link me to them.

Will all my hardware work on windows xp. The card reader, graphics card, webcam, touchpad, sound, chipset , ethernet, the hdmi the satas, could someone enlighten me, if they have done it.

    Thanks

Most of the drivers were on their site. I've done this and by default the sound driver doesn't work unless you do it a certain way. The easiest thing to do is to slipstream the drivers into a xp install cd (and sp3 while you are at it). Give me a minute b/c this is a repost and there was a link to a good article that said it step by step.

For the most part it works pretty good. I took it off because I wanted to use the pandora gadget for the sidebar, which, ironically, I just had a crappy time trying to disable. I had xp running smoothly with sound and graphics. I have to say it ran a lot better than vista.

The graphics are jumpy because you don't have the nvidia graphics drivers installed. http://laptopvideo2go.com should have some drivers for it. Been awhile so I don't recall the exact one that I used. Looks like you didn't slipstream in some of drivers, so it would be good to install the rest of the drivers from that guide. I know all of them work because I used them myself. Try installing the drivers in the order listed and let us know what happens. Thanks.

For nvidia, download an xp driver and the modded inf and then drag the modded inf into the folder and let it replace the original. Here that is in a little more detail http://laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=9243.

The only thing I didn't try to install was the webcam. Everything else should work.

Having sp3 shouldn't matter because that's what I slip-streamed in on mine. I also slip-streamed all of the drivers in beforehand as well. The only thing I had to tinker with is the sound and I got it working after I found that guide.

    Install .NET Framework 3.5

    1. Download Windows Installer 3.1
    2. Run WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe
    3. Download .NET Framework 3.5
    4. Run dotNetFx35setup.exe

I think this is why my sound wouldn't work. You have to do this first. Let me know if you are still having problems with the graphics because that should have flowed smoothly....

no luck with the nvidia drivers, im still getting, The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatable with your current hardware. setup will now close, that was with the 179.48 drivers and the ne 185 beta driver, and i tried the no cd method with the 179 one and it did fook all.

How did u slip stream drivers to the disk

I want to say I used nlite, but that was a couple months ago and my memory is terrible. Did you download the modded inf and replace the original? Otherwise, it will not see the card right (or it might not see it at all). The modded inf is the trick to getting it to work.

No problemo. Just glad I could help. Xp runs really good on this machine. My only regret is that I don't have a copy of the x64 version. That would be nice :)
