Yea i was going for a dell xps 1530 and i thought my decision was final...i saw customer support issues and stuff...so yeah im back here again...anyone has ever opted for the 3 yr in home service from gateway + acc damage? I want to know how was your experience so far so I can please make a 3rd final decision LOL....be honest please....

anyone??? -_-
 -

I didn't take the warranty. But if I go to gateway's website I still can upgrade to it.
The reason I opt'd out for the 3 year warranty is if my notebook last a year without problems ,the likely hood that anything would crop up is slim. From my experience. Most problems with any notebook happens in the early stages of ownership. -

I got the warranty on my P-171x fx because it only cost $149.99, not bad, I got the accidental warranty for free
      -

howd you get accidental for free? NEED TO KNOW SECRET =)
 -

just make a deal with the gateway rep, I am a sales person myself, matbe that helped
      -

bleh, all the sales rep did was give me an extra 100 off...wanna talk to them for me? XD
say your in tucson? arizona? i think my laptop will probably pass thru tucson on the way to phoenix...just a side thought lol. -

cool, I can test it out for awhile
      -

test it out? you can keep it...long as you give me your 171X =)
 -

wow this thread went another way lmao

Anyway it still doesn't answer my question...is gateway support good? LOL im srry if am being a pain in the gluteus maximus...making a decision for a notebook is hard especially if this one is going to be my first notebook that i may keep for 4 yrs (im not rich enough to buy every now and then) Budget is below $2000 and must include 3 yrs warranty/accidental damage, tax/shipping, mouse, and laptop case -

Just get the dang warranty! lol just kidding
Yes the warranty will be good for you because your young and going to College, and you are bound to break it.

im in your same position...first laptop, need it to last 2-3 years...but i didnt get the warranty o_o
the sales rep i bought my laptop from said i have up till my 12 months are over to upgrade my warranty so i have lots of time to think about it =)
hey flynnaz, for future reference, wanna gimme some tricks to talk the sales rep into giving me more discounts? XD -

Just tell the rep how much you really like their product, but it maybe easer to get it at best buy.

hehe okay thx =)

Hey, I leveraged the "recent" sale that BB had on the 6860FX (that I missed by a week). Basically asked if they would honor the sale still...Store Manager worked with me and gave me Crysis for free, 20% of a second 320GB HD for Raid 0, and got it all on the BB 18 month 0 interest/payments plan. I couldn't complain..
I have found that if you ask the "store manager" (esp BB and CC) questions about automation parts or "returns" (I got my iPod Nano 8GB for $140 because it was returned the same day) you can find some really great deals..... -
Is it possible to get an accidental damage warranty from gateway if i buy from best buy? Also, I like the battery life to be more well tolerable...i realized the differences in the reviews between the 171 (2hrs) and 6860 (1hr). I am not adventurous and will not get a new CPU so thats out of the question and i am tryin to stay on budget of under $2000 including 3yrs acc damage, backpack/case, and mouse (and possibly something to prevent my lap from frying)
 -

I believe so, call Gateway and ask, I know you can buy a warrenty through gaterway after you buy it from Best Buy.
 -

you sure you want a 17 inch? with a budget of 2000 you can get a great 15 inch.
 -
Im trying to do some gaming...I never had a high end card before in my desktop (HP Propreitary -_-) so I want to have an experience of decent framerates for once lol.

back to the drawing board -_-
