I didn't take the warranty. But if I go to gateway's website I still can upgrade to it.
The reason I opt'd out for the 3 year warranty is if my notebook last a year without problems ,the likely hood that anything would crop up is slim. From my experience. Most problems with any notebook happens in the early stages of ownership.

Anyway it still doesn't answer my question...is gateway support good? LOL im srry if am being a pain in the gluteus maximus...making a decision for a notebook is hard especially if this one is going to be my first notebook that i may keep for 4 yrs (im not rich enough to buy every now and then) Budget is below $2000 and must include 3 yrs warranty/accidental damage, tax/shipping, mouse, and laptop case

Just tell the rep how much you really like their product, but it maybe easer to get it at best buy.

Hey, I leveraged the "recent" sale that BB had on the 6860FX (that I missed by a week). Basically asked if they would honor the sale still...Store Manager worked with me and gave me Crysis for free, 20% of a second 320GB HD for Raid 0, and got it all on the BB 18 month 0 interest/payments plan. I couldn't complain..

I have found that if you ask the "store manager" (esp BB and CC) questions about automation parts or "returns" (I got my iPod Nano 8GB for $140 because it was returned the same day) you can find some really great deals.....

Is it possible to get an accidental damage warranty from gateway if i buy from best buy? Also, I like the battery life to be more well tolerable...i realized the differences in the reviews between the 171 (2hrs) and 6860 (1hr). I am not adventurous and will not get a new CPU so thats out of the question and i am tryin to stay on budget of under $2000 including 3yrs acc damage, backpack/case, and mouse (and possibly something to prevent my lap from frying)
