I haven't seen any extended or higher capacity batteries for the FX laptops, but........ do you really lug a 10 lb, 17" desktop replacement to class?

What kind of classes are you taking that need the high preformance setting?

But your pretty much stuck with plugging in or getting a spare battery to go over the 2-3 hour mark

no upgrades i found, best bet is doing what the post above said, buy an extra battery, then charge that at night after your primary charges. other than that i havent found any either. the performance on powersaver mode has proven to be all that i need for class, and when i do need the extra boost, i kick it up to balance, but there realy isnt a need for high performance unless you are doing advanced rendering or other data extensive programs

yea, ive always found improvising an effective tool, case and point,

all my classes are in a computer lab:
problem, all computers in the lab are dells, and no spare outlets.
    solution:
unplug the dell and plug in a real computer (such as a 6860fx) ;)
(you could unplug the teachers overhead projector if necessary, not recommended)

Then you really dont need the Preformance Setting then.

You turn the machine on power savings and milk an extra 45 minutes out of the battery. Between that and a spare your golden

undervolt your processor, turn off wi-fi, dim the screen as well. I haven't run any real tests but since I undervolted my processor my tray battery icon reads about 3:35 remaining when the battery is full. Laptop in signature.
