I don't know what this means, but my laptop 'beeped' at me about an hour ago. I know it wasn't a Windows noise, it was definitely coming from the laptop's case. About 45 minutes later, the laptop produced a series of the same sounding beeps (4 or 5 beeps).

What does this mean? Is something wrong with it? Help me!

Is it on and you are getting a "low battery" warning?

You might want to plug it in to AC power and check it.

I have been getting a "beep" noise off an on for a couple of weeks now. Not always. It is definitely coming from the hard drive (right side of the laptop). I am wondering if the hard drive just is slightly lose or something. Tonight I did pull out the battery and cleaned all the exposed areas like the fans, battery compartment, etc with air. After this it did not beep at all. Earlier in the day when I turned it on for 5 minutes to check email it beeped off and on for the entire 5 minutes - I just don't get it and it is starting to stress me out.

Extremely stupid question, but where is the RAM? I don't open computers up much and want to make sure I unplug and plug in the right thing. My harddrive light seems to be blinking a lot also, even when I am not doing much. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

    Thanks

Also I can't check the RAM card for a week or so - on vacation and do not want to mess with it. If it is loose RAM and I just need to tighten it, am I causing damage to the card or computer by using the computer with it this way (using the computer very sparingly on vacation to check email and do a little bit of internet). Last night and right now the computer is not beeping at all. So it is weird that it doesn't happen all the time.

The RAM is under the large panel on the bottom. As soon as you open it up you'll see it

As to your hard drive having alot of activity... thats just Vista, nothing to worry about

It should be fine to use for light work
