If I want to upgrade the CPU can I buy t9300 (from an online retailer) and give it to the Geek Squad to install; thus keeping my extended warranty?

Also anyone figure out how to get digital sound from this laptop yet? There is no optical jack. now can I get the microphone/headphone jacks to toggle for digital output.

Maybe, but you could always just keep the old CPU and if you ever have problems reinstall it and then take the Notebook to the Geek Squad.

Or back up all of your data and then drop the thing on the gound so you get a whole NEW laptop :p

I am not sure if Best Buys will install your CPU and keep the warranty in tact.
Best to call them and ask. Either way they are going to charge you and arm and a leg to install a new CPU into a laptop since they probably don't have a clue how easy it is in this thing. It's so easy a Caveman can do it in about 7.5 minutes. :D No Optical output on this laptop. It doesn't support 5.1 Audio. The only way around that is to buy a soundcard.

That's not true. You can output 5.1 via HDMI or the optical mini-TOSlink connection in the headphone jack.

If We (geek squad.. yes I'm an agent) have to open the laptop completely up, we are not authorized to by the companies (gateway, etc etc) to do that. Hard-drive replacement sure, but CPU may not be authorized.

yes, but the cpu is easier to change than the hard drive is in this unit. :D :D
