i was just wondering if this laptop is suitable for a game like COD4 or granturismo or something, will it FREEZE up?
-
what gpu does it have exactly
-
1.9ghz AMD x 2
ATi x1270 up to 256 hypermemory
and upgraded to 2GB dual sore RAM (came with only 1 GB) thx for the reply btw. -

COD4 you have no shot at running it with that GPU. It's an intergrated card...you'll play minesweeper great though!
-
ahh man that sucks to hear, what about on the lowest settings?

COD 4, no. You simply can't run such a graphically intensive game on such a card. Have you seen the screenshots of the game?
Also, read the stickies next time. -
This laptop will no way play COD4.
It will play 4-5 year old games fine but nothing new. Yes it will play WOW. Anything can play WOW though.
The GPU in this laptop is a severly crippled x700 GPU with half the pipelines.
It will play games like Serious Sam, Half Life, any game with the Quake 3 engine. -
k thanks, i just bought battlefield2 im going to see if itll work.... it should imo because i am above requirements by a long shot.
-
bf 2 should work great. about cod4 ima try it lol, maybe at the lowest settings, we will just see ^^
games im playing on the t-1616 coz im not really much of a gamer, warcraft custom games and couterstrike source are what i really play hard
warhammer 40k + expansions
halo 2
gta san andrease
nfs mw and carbon
medieveal total war 2
prince of persia all 3 games
and nba live 2007
all work great and fine, medium to high. mostly medium
half life 2 orange box max settings
the card works fine for my work graphics design and video rendering. -
Download the demo and try. The game runs on my X3100 on Vista, at lowest settings and high textures, and the x1270 > x3100 (in vista, at least, when x3100 is in HW mode).
-
You could play older game but nothing new. like Gear of Wars or COD4.
-
i got counterstrike source and i love it, have it set on the highest settings and its runs awesome, and im sure the DDR2 2GB RAM upgrade doesnt hurt (link for RAM is on page 15 of the t-1616 user group thread)....
thanks for all the replies btw. -
Guys, maybe I am doing something wrong? This thing sucks with CS:S. Are you guys on Vista? When I play CSS, I drop down to 10 frames with alot of stuff happening even on the lowest settings. Also, my core temps sometimes go up to 95C when really hard gaming. Are we talking about the same notebook?
-
set your power settings on performance. it should fix that
-
Do you have CS:S?
All setting power scheme to HP does for me, is make my cores run at 95C . You should get all the power out of Balanced that you do doing HP when playing a game.
HP doesnt not give me a great increase in Frames. -
lol ahh, were gateway here, are you on an HP? go to the HP owners forum part
-
long live Gateways
-
And whoever said that CS:S runs smoothly at highest settings with a x1270 IGP is full of it. Low-medium settings at 800x600 or 640x480 should net you around 30 fps. Or at least it does with my crippled nvidia 6100 IGP, so a x1270 should be able to one up it a bit better. -
What he said. It's not performance in Vista, it's High Performance, which all that does is lock you into voltages.
The best I can do with Vista with CS:S is 50FPS that drops to ~10 in worst case with a very tweaked CS:S. If someone else is getting great performance with this PC then the only thing I can think is they are on XP, but I don't even believe that would make a giant difference, unless someone tells me different.
-
40-50fps should be great already! i dunno how much more would you ask for.
i think running at lower resolutions with higher settings would tweak it a bit.
@ 6100 should be alright for gaming, but the x1270 is up the ladder probably by 1 or two rungs. -
i swear it runs perfect at highest settings, i have 2 GB of RAM and it made this computer completley different, now i can play CS:S for like 5 hours straight and all that happens is the fan comes on and gets warm like a normal laptop should.
but ya, i know this isnt a gaming laptop but it sure plays CS:S fine for me, i dont need anything else because im not much of a gamer. -
lipuid, if you could, please run the video test at main menu and tell me what it says your FPS are. Are you running XP or Vista. Btw I have a 1620, so it came with 2 gigs of ram.
I get 35FPS out of the video test. 50 is my Maxfps. My consistant FPS is averaging at 20FPS for a whole game, which is horrible. What kills me is my Semperon / ATI 200m machine ran CS:S almost as well on XP MC.
-
i got 26.5 fps the first time and 27.6 the next.....
-
Just for your info, that's really bad
That means in game you will drop to probably 8 FPS, which is a slideshow. Also means that in most firefights you will go to semi-slide show which kills your firing.
-
well whats the easiest way to improve my FPS?
-
lower the graphics, and the resolution.
try the resolution first then start lowering the graphics. if the resolution didnt improve the gameplay much -
lower the graphics in the ATI settings, or in the game itself? and this will improve FPS?
what about upgrading a VID card? any suggestions, because i want high resolution for sure and increasing FPS isnt worth having crappy graphics. -
-
lower gameplay graphics NOT the ATI graphics,
its the sacrifice you do for faster gameplay, lower graphics.
NO you cannot upgrade integrated video cards, and yeah 26fps isnt bad at all its above average.
you really cannot demand graphic goodness from this laptop. =)
can i play a GAME on the T-1616?
